Scripture: John 14:25-27
“Peace, I leave with you; my peace I give to you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled, and do not let them be afraid.” – John 14:27
One night I was lying in the hammock on our back deck. I was looking up in the sky and listening to the crickets. I felt peace. There was not anything to worry about. There was not anything to think about. I was at peace. When I am at peace, I feel a sense of safety, happiness, and calmness.
In the Bible, it says that Jesus was a peaceful baby. He was not loud. The Bible does not say that he cried all the time. He was at peace even as a baby. Later in his life, Jesus surrendered his life for us. When we surrender our lives to God, we have the same peace.
As we get ready for Christmas, I hope you will, in your own life, find peace. I hope you will find something like my experience of lying in the hammock, listening to the crickets and looking into the sky.
Prayer: Dear God, please help me find peace while I wait to celebrate Christmas. I am thankful that Jesus came here to give us peace. Amen.
