Scripture: I Chronicles 22:9-10

Solomon’s story reminds us of the longing to create a place where God could dwell with His people. In 1 Kings 5:5, Solomon says, “I intend to build a temple for the Name of the Lord my God.” This wasn’t just a grand architectural project; it was a deeply personal mission to honor the promise God made to his father, David. Solomon poured years of careful attention into building this temple, because he wanted to make space for God to be near His people.

During Christmas, we experience a similar longing—the desire to welcome God’s presence into our lives. As 1 Kings 6 describes the temple’s intricate details, we’re reminded that God’s dwelling place is not just about structures, but about preparing our hearts for His presence. Solomon’s temple pointed forward to the ultimate gift of “God with us”—Jesus Christ.

As we prepare for Christmas, how are we making room for God in our lives? Just as Solomon invested time and care in building the temple, we are called to make space in our hearts for Christ to dwell. Christmas isn’t just a time for celebration; it’s an invitation to experience God’s presence in a personal way. This season let’s reflect on the incredible truth that through Jesus, God doesn’t just visit us—He chooses to stay with us, offering love, peace, and salvation. May we open our hearts fully to Him, creating space for the One who came to be our Emmanuel.
