Scripture: Philippians 4:4-7

Let there be PEACE . . .words easily spoken but such a seemingly unattainable concept.  In Philippians, Paul reminds us that the peace that God gives is beyond our understanding. For me, it is confusing when in the Gospel of Luke Jesus speaks of bringing, not peace, but division (Luke 12:49-51).

As we look at our world today, it is obviously hard to see or find peace. Even when we talk about seeking peace, we speak of “striving” for peace. “Striving” doesn’t sound like a very peaceful concept to me. When asked to write about “peace” for this Advent booklet, it did not bring me peace. It, obviously, made me think of everything that isn’t peaceful.

But . . .“Peace, I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.” – JESUS

We will not really ever know complete and lasting peace until Jesus comes again
