A Day of Celebration and Dedication

On Sunday, November 19, Yates Baptist Church is sharing a once-in-a-generation experience together as we reenter the sanctuary for a service of consecration and dedication.  God has led us graciously through this time of refitting the church campus for 21st century ministry. This is a joyous time for us to make a personal and collective fresh start, recommitting to the work begun on the grounds 139 years ago and to the work God is doing in and through us in Jesus Christ.  As we cross the threshold together, it marks a time to begin – again.

There are several ways you can participate across the week of November 12-19:

  • Scripture Vigil – November 12-18.  Before we ever worship together, the Scriptures will be read out into the sanctuary in their entirety, filling the space with the Word of God.  You are invited to sign up to lend your voice in 15-minute increments for as many blocks of time as you desire. A written schedule is found at the bulletin board by the church office, or you can sign up online.
  • Open House – November 18, from 3:00-5:00 pm.  For those who want to view the sanctuary before Sunday morning, it will be open to visitors from 3:00-5:00 pm on Saturday.  A brochure is available to identify some of the new features and their significance and meaning for the ministry of the church.
  • A Combined Morning Worship Service of Dedication will begin at 10:30 am on November 19.  Because of the special events of the day, there will be no Sunday School or 8:30 am worship.
  • A catered Fellowship Meal will follow in the gym, formerly known as “the Tabernacle.”  As the hospitality committee arranges for the meal, it helps to know a bit about your intention to join in.  There are three ways you can register your intention to stay and eat:

Please register the number of guests you anticipate eating at the meal, including children, and whether you require a vegetarian entrée. If you do not register your name(s) ahead of time, please don’t let this hinder your coming to the meal. This is only a means of determining an approximate figure to guide planning. It is not a formal guest list! Also, there will be a contribution station if you wish to offset the cost of the banquet.

What exciting times we’re in.  It is a privilege to begin again with you on November 19!
