We received this note from Marty and the Yates Baptist Association. Please read and prayerfully consider how to help:
Over the weekend hundreds of our Durham neighbors living at McDougald Terrace were displaced due to safety issues involving carbon monoxide leaks.
Residents were relocated to local hotels and are staying there indefinitely until the issues are resolved.
While there are many layers to this situation, there are also very practical ways we can respond thoughtfully, helpfully, and immediately to help address the needs of our neighbors affected by this crisis.
One organization that you may or may not be aware of is ReCity here in Durham. In praying about how we from YBA could help I believe that one of the best ways to reach out to these affected by this crisis is to partner with organizations who are already connecting to the situation. I highly recommend ReCity and their efforts here is how you can help. To find out more about ReCity click here: https://www.recitynetwork.org/
Here are 3 ways you can help:
1. Purchase items from this list and drop them off at ReCity (112 Broadway Street, Durham, NC, 27701)
2. Donate online to help with the purchase of these supplies (Click this link https://www.recitynetwork.org/donate?utm_campaign=ReCity%20Network&utm_medium=email&utm_source=Revue%20newsletter to donate and write “McDougal Fund” in the Address Line 2 section)
3. Forward this message to others in your network who can help.
This is an opportunity for the ReCity community to rally to meet the needs of our vulnerable neighbors by supporting efforts led by those directly affected by the problem.
I hope you’ll join us in offering your support and prayers.
