Benjamin Ingram was baptized at Yates on Sunday, February 24. Like all of our baptismal candidates, he was asked to write in his own words his statement of faith about his baptism. Read it below.
I have been at Yates almost five years and now I have made my commitment to follow Jesus for the rest of my life.
I want to do this because I think now is the perfect time to do it.
My family and my Sunday School teachers have helped me to learn more and more about Jesus. I feel closer and closer to him until he’s right next to me. What they do for me just feels encouraging to me.
Being baptized means to be buried and resurrected with Jesus. And after this, I am making the commitment to follow God the rest of my life.
I want the church to be my brothers and sisters in Christ, to help me and guide me to learn more about him.
I am thankful for my family, my friends, my congregation – the church – and many other things I can’t think of right now.
I feel very, very happy to take this first step.
