As we enter into winter months with the potential for hazardous driving conditions, it may be helpful to remember how Yates communicates schedule changes due to severe weather. Please note our policy printed here:
Yates Baptist Church Severe Weather Policy
Sunday Morning Services
Believing that corporate worship is vital to personal and communal Christian faith, Yates Baptist Church seldom cancels Sunday morning services regardless of the weather (Heb 10:25). However, in the case of severe weather a decision about services will be made and any cancellations posted on the website by 7:00 am. Further efforts will be made to communicate cancellations with local television stations WRAL and WTVD. We encourage all church members and guests to use their best judgment and common sense in making decisions as to whether they should attend.
Sunday School at Yates Baptist Church adheres to the same policy as Sunday morning services.
It is the practice of Yates Baptist Church to combine Sunday School classes as necessary when bad weather results in reduced class populations. We encourage our Sunday School teachers, care‐givers, and other workers not to travel in conditions with which they are uncomfortable. Our Minister of Adult Discipleship, in collaboration with other staff ministers, determines how classes will be combined among children, youth, and adults on these Sundays. We encourage all church members and guests to use their best judgment and common sense in making decisions as to whether they should attend.
Wednesday evening services and other events during the week
During severe weather the church will cancel Wednesday evening services and activities if the local school system has cancelled school for the day. The same policy holds for activities throughout the week. We encourage all church members and guests to use their best judgment and common sense in making decisions as to whether they should attend.
Child Development Center
The Yates Baptist Church Child Development Center maintains its own severe weather policy. A copy of that policy can be obtained by contacting the CDC at 919-489‐5760.
